Yesterday whilst working with a client who has lost a lot of weight recently she said “Dawn, my fundamental issue is that I love biscuits and cake in fact anything sweet even though I know it’s not doing me any favours!”
I think if we’re honest we can all relate to what she said to a greater or lesser degree. We are surrounded by tempting sweets, cakes and chocolates which are formulated with just the right amount of sugar and fat to hit all the right pleasure receptors in our brain. It’s really difficult to overcome the urge to eat and can become an addiction which as we all know can result in inflammation in the body, weight gain, heart disease etc etc.
If you are on the journey to getting leaner and lighter so that you can go faster, you have probably tried to go ‘cold turkey’ on sugar but found that this leaves you craving the sweet stuff even more.
In this video, I share 5 tips to help you strike a balance & sort out you relationship with sugar. You will be able to put in place some tactics so that you take back control enabling you to ‘have your cake and eat it.’
As an endurance athlete, sugar has its place and when you use it during training and racing as it is a readily available energy source so don’t give yourself a hard time when you eat it.
Feel less guilty and form a better relationship with sugar by timing it well, setting reasonable limits on your intake and choose quality foods you can savour and enjoy.
